Figure 6.1. Process of Communicate Plan

Effective communication is key to aligning project objectives with robotic implementation to meet all stakeholders’ expectations. An A3 plan is recommended to communicate why, how, when, who, where, and what. Illustrations of the A3 plan can easily convey ideas throughout the team. The A3 should include, but not be limited to, goals, robotic tasks with associated tasks, the responsible party for those tasks, schedule, expected output, and site layouts. Also, it is beneficial to include metrics and an improvement plan, which is part of Chapter 7. An example of an A3 template is Figure 6-2. This A3 plan should be reviewed and updated periodically so that everyone can stay up to date about the implementation plan. Any critical update should be immediately announced to stakeholders. If critical procedure changes occur, it is better to have a meeting between stakeholders to review the implementation plan developed in Chapter 4 and revise it based on the given situation.  A template for this A3 plan can be found in Appendix J.
