2.2 Activities Linear and Literal Equations

Activity 2.2.1

Formulas or Literal Equations

Rearrange the equation and solve for the indicated variable.

  1. [latex]b=7x[/latex], for x
  2. [latex]z=x-k[/latex], for x
  3. [latex]g=ca[/latex], for a
  4. [latex]u=\frac{k}{a}[/latex], for a
  5. [latex]15am=4[/latex], for a
  6. [latex]w=\frac{ak}{b}[/latex], for a
  7. [latex]ab=q + p[/latex], for b
  8. [latex]z=b+\frac{m}{n}[/latex], for n
  9. [latex]t=\frac{1+2a}{a}[/latex], for a
  10. [latex]y+ka=ba[/latex], for a

Activity 2.2.2

Linear Equation and Rational Equation

Practice. These will all reduce to a linear equation and solution. Also, identify as Conditional, Identity or Inconsistent.

  1. [latex]3x-30 = 2-x[/latex]
  2. [latex]6-4(x+4) = 8x -2(3x+5)[/latex]
  3. [latex]3(3x-1)=9x+7[/latex]
  4. [latex]0.6(x-5)+0.8(x-6)=0.2x-1.8[/latex]
  5. [latex]3a^2-1=(a+1)(3a+2)[/latex]
  6. [latex]-2(x+4)+3x=x-8[/latex]
  7. [latex]4(x+7)=2(x+12)+2(x+1)[/latex]
  8. [latex]\frac{1}{3} (1-x)-\frac{x+1}{2}=-2[/latex]
