Welcome to the Penn State Schuylkill Native Pollinator Garden Manual.

A pollinator garden or “pollinator friendly garden” is an artificially planted or natural area that contains plants that are natural food and habitat resources for pollinators native to the region. The importance of this natural resource is to provide pollinating insects and other animals food/pollen to help them survive and thrive. Additionally, the design of the space is meant to allow for pollinators to establish suitable habitats for themselves in that area. Finally, the plants utilized are native to the garden’s geographic and ecological region, which makes them more suitable for survival.

The following pages include descriptions of the plants utilized within the Penn State Schuylkill Certified Pollinator Garden. As plants are added, we will continue to update this resource.
