As we look towards future chapters of this OER, we will shift the focus to the drilling process, the onboard science laboratories, and describe the equipment and measurements that were carried out as soon as core was brought on the deck of JOIDES Resolution. One section will include a snapshot of downhole logging and onshore laboratory techniques. We will then highlight the importance of the core repositories and existing core material still available for investigation, as well as the exciting discoveries that are being made from legacy cores.
