You have already learned the anatomy of a Spanish verb. Therefore, remember that the only thing that is changing in a REGULAR VERB is the ending of the verbs.

The Preterit tense is used to talk about completed actions in the past. The endings indicate the tense. The tables above, when compared, those changes from the present to the preterit are clear.

  • Completed events
    • La maestra visitó la playa ayer. The teacher visited the beach yesterday.
  • Beginning and end
    • La clase terminó tarde. The class ended late.
  • Specific dates or and times
    • Enrique regresó el lunes pasado. Enrique returned last Monday.
  • Events in a sequence
    • Llegué tarde, comí pizza y bebí agua. I arrived late, ate pizza, and drank water.
